To stop the delta variant in its tracks, Beijing has taken safety measures to limit the maximum daily capacity of major attractions to 60 percent.
As of now, Beijingers might have already felt the impact as the city has implemented stricter measures to curb the spread of the pandemic, including temporary closures of scenic spots and delays of events and stage performances.
To save yourself from a trip for nothing, we've compiled a list of places that have been forced to shut down.
Major attractions closed
Lama Temple
Closed to the public and will not open until further notice.
White Cloud Temple
Closed to the public and will not open until further notice.
Tanzhe Temple
Closed to the public and will not open until further notice.
Baipu Temple, Shucun Mosque
Closed to the public and will not open until further notice.
CAFA-Art Museum
Closed to the public and will not open until further notice.
Shijia Hutong Museum
Closed to the public and will not open until further notice.
Museum of Ancient Pottery Civilization
Closed to the public and will not open until further notice.
Beijing Ancient Coins Exhibition Hall
Closed from Aug 9 to Aug 13.
Nanchizi Art Gallery:
Closed to the public and will not open until further notice.
Beijing Xiaotangshan Modern Agricultural Science Demonstration Park:
Closed to the public and will not open until further notice.
Yingdong Natatorium: closed from Aug 1.
Yinhu Cave:
Closed due to reconstruction. Follow their official WeChat account for updates on then it will repoen.
Yinshan Talin Scenic Area:
Was closed on Aug 10 and Aug 11. Call ahead to confirm if open now.
Beijing Planetarium
Will remain closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Beijing Labagou Primeval Forest Park
Parts of the scenic spots will be closed. The Nanhouling area will remain opened. The Bingquan area and the Baizhangya area are temporarily closed.
Lianhuachi Park
The east gate of the park will be temporarily closed. Visitors may still enter through south gate and east gate.
Beijing Happy Valley
Performances at the Grand theater Palace Cinema are suspended.
Haidian District Library
Haidian District Library has suspended all the services, except book-borrowing requests.
National Library of China
The National Library of China has temporarily stopped all offline activities. 6.
Chaoyang Library
The Chaoyang Library has temporarily stopped all offline activities.
The 11th Beijing International Film Festival has been postponed
The festival, originally set to take place from Aug 14 to Aug 21, has been postponed.
Museums to step up safety measures
Forbidden City
Daily attendance is reduced to 60 percent of its regular capacity.
The Museum of the War of Chinese People’s Resistance Against Japan
Daily attendance limit was lowered from 6,000 to 3,000.
Xiangshan Revolutionary Memorial Hall
Daily attendance has been adjusted from 3,000 to 1,800.
Peking University Red Building
The number of daily visitors will be decreased from 2,000 to 1,200, and all the guide services will be suspended.
Beijing Natural History Museum
The number of visitors has been adjusted from 3,600 to 2,880, and some underground exhibition spaces such as the aquatic life exhibition and human body exhibition are temporarily closed.
Capital Museum
All the lectures and activities have been canceled.
Confucius Temple and The Imperial College Museum
The daily number of scheduled visitors will be adjusted to 1500. Group tours will not be accepted temporarily.
Beijing Olympic Museum
No walk-in or on-site booking is accepted. The museum has temporarily stopped guide services.
Tsinghua University Art Museum
Group booking, tour-guide service, and offline educational activities are suspended
Beijing Yanjing Bajue Museum
Pre-booking is suspended and will resume on Aug 16.
